Information is the organization’s strategic resource that enables the effective combination and utilization of the other factors of production. However, to become strategic, information must be galvanized into knowledge that can guide action. This transfiguration of information into knowledge is the goal of information management (IM). In this Module the management of information is viewed as the management of a network of processes that acquire, create, organize, distribute, and use information.

The objective of this Module is to develop an understanding of how an organization may manage its information processes more effectively in order to increase its capacity to learn and adopt. This module will focus on the following topic areas: the intelligent organization; managers as information users; information management models; environmental scanning; managing information sources.

The necessary skills to solve information management tasks are developed using discussions in forums and chats, and via blogs, wikis, individual as well as virtual team works in this module. We hope that all together we will make it an interesting learning experience.
